I’ve always been the go-to person for friends and family when it comes to résumés and cover letters. My job in recruitment made this a natural fit, and I discovered a genuine passion for helping others present their skills effectively. I quickly noticed common mistakes people make when trying to showcase their abilities, and my sharp eye for detail often caught grammatical errors and typos that even seasoned editors missed.
To better serve others, I became a Certified Résumé Strategist through the Career Professionals of Canada in 2023. This training and certification felt like the perfect fit, helping me refine the skills I already had and formalize my on-the-job experience.
As I explored the résumé writing industry, I was frustrated by how many writers relied on outdated techniques. Most hadn’t worked in recruitment professionally for over a decade and weren’t considering modern tools like AI and Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS). Seeing people spend hundreds, or even thousands, on ineffective résumés motivated me to take action.
That’s when McDougall Consulting was born.
It’s important to me that McDougall Consulting remains a part-time venture, allowing me to stay deeply connected to modern technical recruitment through my full-time role as a Senior Talent Acquisition Specialist in the Cybersecurity industry. This approach also enables me to offer services at an affordable rate, ensuring that job seekers, especially those currently unemployed, can access high-quality support.

When I’m not working full-time or crafting résumés for my awesome clients, you’ll find me chasing my sons, packing them into my Bronco for weekend camping trips, getting lost in a good book, or playing tabletop games with friends. Whether it’s an adventurous summer weekend or a cozy fall craft night at home, I love making the most of every moment.
